The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at Rainier Residential Habilitation Center in Buckley, Washington.
You'll enjoy work where you can make an impact in providing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through collaboration with other team members and development of communication-based services, you'll support our client's communication modalities and needs.
Some of what you'll do:
Develop and implement Speech-Language Pathology services
Develop formal communication programs/interventions to address identified communication needs
Provide written evaluations for an intellectually disabled population with multiple disabilities as they pertain to speech-language-hearing
Work within an interdisciplinary team and develop programs that support identified priorities
Provide in-service training to staff
Design and construct adaptive equipment for communication
Create communication displays using graphic software, such as Boardmaker
We are looking for someone with:
A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology or Communicative Disorders or documentation of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association approved equivalent to the Master's degree consisting of approved curriculum and student practicum hours
A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association
A current Washington State Speech-Language Pathologist License
Expertise in utilizing adaptive communication devices and applications for clients with intellectual disabilities
Ability to teach and train staff
Ability to provide dysphagia services
Ability to deal with clients who have combative behaviors
