Students graduating from Geisinger Commonwealth Masters in Biomedical Science (MBS) program may take a gap year after graduation before matriculating into another health professional program. These students are often interested in short-term employment that builds upon the knowledge and skills obtained in the MBS program. The individual in this position will support faculty in the delivery of graduate level curriculum via review sessions, leading group or cohort study sessions, exam reviews and tutoring of graduate students in traditional, part-time and online graduate degree programs.
Reviews course materials to understand course goals and objectives as well as stay current with content and assignments. Meets regularly with course instructors to discuss assignments and classroom issues. Assist faculty in assurance of graduate student learning. Support, facilitate and in certain circumstances lead classroom instruction. Plans, schedules, and facilitates review sessions for exams as requested by course instructor. Supervision of a group of graduate students via tutoring and peer mentoring. Proctor examinations for graduate programs. Maintains weekly office hours to communicate with students as needed. Demonstrates respect to and cooperation with course instructors inside and outside of the classroom. Work is typically performed in an office environment but can also include evening weekend, online or face-to-face facilitation of student learning, tutoring or advising. . Exemplary academic performance as demonstrated by an “A” average in the MBS program. This will be based on the cumulative student's GPA at the time of application due to competitiveness of the position.
