The Mental Health Nursing Assistant (NA) must be able to perform with skill and effectiveness any and all duties associated with nursing assistant work. As part of the Interdisciplinary team, the NA assists the licensed nursing staff in the care of veteran patients receiving inpatient psychiatric care, who are in acute, sub-acute or chronic state of illness. These duties may include but is not limited to: Develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with all patients; Transports patients to/from appointments; Communicates in a therapeutic and professional manner with all internal/external customers; Observes physical and emotional status and refers deviations and/or problems to the assigned nurse in a timely manner; Maintains confidentiality of electronic, written, and verbal patient/employee information. And other duties as assigned; Assists RN/LPN in the provision of patient care; and Maintains and monitors for a safe environment for patients and staff.
