This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more. The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Medical students, residents, and fellows train at our facility. The selected candidate must also be eligible for an appointment with the University of Arizona. The SAVAHCS is a tertiary care facility providing a full range of clinical services including cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. The SAVAHCS offers a beautiful 150-acre campus with a full range of medical and mental health services for Veterans, including a 31-bed inpatient psychiatry unit, a 25-bed mental health residential rehabilitation program, intensive outpatient programs, homeless programs, and more. As a staff primary care physician within the Mental Health Primary Care Section, you will provide comprehensive medical care to a panel of adult patients, from young adult to elderly, with co-occurring severe mental illness. You will predominately serve as the primary provider for the Homeless-Patient Aligned Care Team; therefore, most patients will be homeless or have been homeless in the recent past. You will work with an integrated, multi-disciplinary healthcare team which includes psychiatry that shares responsibility for comprehensive medical and mental health care with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention. Duties include but are not limited to: Serve as a primary care staff physician in a busy, dynamic, community outpatient primary care clinic within the Mental Health Service. Provide comprehensive care to a panel of adult patients, from young adult to elderly with co-occurring mental illness. Provide care to optimize patient health, work seamlessly with other health care team members and support patient satisfaction initiatives. Contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with specialty services and utilize computerized/electronic medical records. Provide patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to service excellence. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Telework: This position is not suitable for telework. Compressed/Flexible Work schedule: May be considered for highly qualified candidates.
