The primary purpose of this position is to provide Clinical Educator duties for the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center (MGVAMC) and all associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCS). The position located at the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. The Clinical Educator RN reports directly to the Chief of Education Service. Duties include but are not limited to: Works collaboratively consulting with management to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate education programs for staff, maintain and enhance clinical competence, and manage ongoing education and competency programs. Serves as a role model and clinical leader to nursing staff for clinical excellence, research, and best practices. Collaborates and consults with multidisciplinary teams in planning, directing, and implementing a patient-centered environment. Systematically evaluates and facilitates change in clinical practice/standards of care. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities. Ability to convey information to staff at various levels from novice to expert. Facilitates a variety of learning experiences using a range of instructional methods and modalities. Demonstrates familiarity with established policies and procedures and administration of the unity in accordance with the Joint Commission, other regulatory agencies, and VA policy. Ability to articulate and interpret organizational policies and procedures to the health care team. Functions as one of the key people in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the standards. Promotes evidence based clinical practice and assist staff and leadership with Quality Management and Performance Improvement programs, including evidence-based research projects. Takes initiative and utilizes innovative and creative approaches for change practice based on performance improvement findings and evidence-based practice. Demonstrates leadership in providing clinical expertise in selecting/supporting new equipment/monitoring devices used within the facility. Collaborates with management, Chief Nurses, and Medical Directors for program development, quality care, and resource planning. Utilizes methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals and to collect and analyze data. Educator will share this information with nursing leadership. The goal will be to assist with staff and program development. Enhance and facilitate clinical excellence and professional standards and performance through the incorporation of nursing grand rounds, continuing education programs, in-services, journal clubs, student experiences, new employee and experienced staff orientation. Acts as a resource and liaison by serving on facility-wide committees, councils, and task forces. Change agent, fosters and demonstrates innovative and creative approaches to problem solving and process improvement. Works collaboratively with and is active in participating as applicable with general educational directives, training, in-services, orientation, educational programs, and CPR training (BLS/ACLS) May be responsible and assigned to facility programs. This RN possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting within these assignments. The RN is also responsible and accountable for maintaining general competency in: Infection Control, Quality Improvement, BLS Training (for appropriate areas), Patient Safety, Information Management, Customer Service. Work Schedule: 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 11 paid Federal holidays per year.
