Christiana Care is hiring a full time Registered Dietitian for their Weight Management Outpatient programs.
The Weight Management office offers a full array of options, including one-on-one counseling, group classes, personalized medically supervised programs, a meal-replacement program and bariatric surgery. You would be along side nurse practitioners, other registered dietitians, exercise physiologists and clinical psychologists.
As a Registered Dietitian on the team, you would help with weight management, bariatric patients, post operation nutrition and much more!
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs in-depth nutritional assessments for patients at risk of or with a chronic disease, obesity, and those who are seeking bariatric surgery
Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret scientific information to identify age-specific needs and to provide the appropriate care and education
Effectively communicates an evaluates diet history data through computer analysis
Demonstrates skill and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.
Participates as an integral part of the healthcare team by making appropriate referrals and by coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team.
Provides individual counseling and group education.
Maintains medical records according to HIPPA guidelines and third-party billing guidelines.
Assists with the development of policies, procedures and programs for the Metabolic Health services practice based, and school based programs.
Assists in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement activities.
Participates in the development and evaluation of nutrition and chronic disease education materials appropriate for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Design and present clinically accurate innovative presentations for other health care professionals and the community
Participates in inter-disciplinary team meetings and patient care
Reviews, evaluates, and utilizes current nutrition and chronic disease management research
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition, Registered Dietitian (R.D.) or RD eligible.
Minimum one year experience as a clinical dietitian, nutrition outreach, counseling and group education related to chronic disease.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Skill in oral and written communication.
Knowledge of clinical nutrition for people with chronic illnesses including diabetes, CVD, hypertension and pulmonary disease
Knowledge of clinical nutrition related to the prevention of chronic disease including diabetes , CVD, hypertension an pulmonary disease
Knowledge of public health theories in the field of nutrition.
Knowledge of research based strategies used to motivate behavior change.
Skill in interpersonal relations.
Skill in motivating others.
Skill in analytical thinking.
Ability to design and implement creative and innovative programs to assist health behavior change.
