Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

General Description and Essential Functions

• Performs pick-up and delivery service of test samples, supplies, and reports within a specified route
• Ensures proper transport of items to and from Laboratory to maintain specimen integrity
• Acts as primary contact between the Laboratory and its clients while carrying out service functions
• Maintains accurate route sheets for audit of reports, supplies, and specimens including time and number of specimens
• Will follow Central Coast Pathology Laboratory's Vehicular Driver Safety Standards, SOP# 9.095, and applicable governmental motor vehicle operation laws and regulations;
• Performs weekly safety and operational check on the vehicle typically assigned and reports problems to the supervisor
• Maintains contact with Courier Supervisor, Laboratory, and draw sites via cell phone
• In addition to an employee's typical work schedule, this position may require employees to work overtime, weekends, split shifts, varying shift schedules, and holidays if needed by the Company. Other duties may apply as necessary.

  Physical Capabilities

• Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.)
• Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
• Frequent, prolonged standing/sitting/walking
• Must be able to see, hear, and respond adequately
• Extensive computer work
• Frequent use of telephone and fax
• Occasional travel required to interact with Division personnel and/or attend meetings, educational training

  Work Experience and Educational Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Zero-two years of driving experience preferred
• Clean driving record that is required of a transportation courier
• C Class Driving License
